What makes this surf retreat different?

Can I participate if I am travelling solo?

Absolutely, these retreats are a great way to connect with like minded women!

Where are the nearest airports?

Ballina-Byron Airport is the best option alternatively Gold Coast Airport is also available

Are flights and travel insurance included in the package price?

No, the package excludes flights and travel insurance, flights from Sydney to Byron start from $129 return

Can dietary requirements/allergies be catered for?

Absolutely! Just let us know your dietary requirements/allergies ahead of time.

Where do we meet?

At Elements of Byron, alternatively we have a free of charge group collection which is available from Ballina Airport at 12.30pm on Friday 15/08 – Pre-registration required

What do I need to bring?

Bring along warm clothes, active wear, comfortable day clothes, clothes for evening meals and everything you need for a beach day – swimwear, and a wetsuit if you have one you’d like to wear. We provide all equipment (Warm wetsuit, surfboard, sunscreen and zinc). You are welcome to bring your own equipment if you prefer.

Isn’t it too cold to surf?

Byron Bay has some of the best surfing conditions in the world and the average water temp is around 22 degrees. We also have got you covered with warm wetsuits and top-notch equipment.

Do I need to book?

Yes, bookings are essential. Spots are limited so book now to avoid disappointment. If all spots are full please call our check in center and we will see what we can do for you.

Can I store valuables during my lesson?

We encourage you to leave anything valuable or important in your hotel room or at home, we do provide storage for your clothes and towel.

What if it’s raining?

As we say, you’re going to get wet anyway! Some of the best waves come with the rain! Our lessons are held rain, hail or shine. The only reason we will cancel if the conditions are dangerous.

Can I change my retreat date?

If we receive 72 hours’ notice we can offer a credit (cancellation fees apply). Unfortunately LGS retreats are non-refundable.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you would like to reschedule a retreat you have booked, we need at least 72 hours notice. Failure to give the necessary notice will mean forfeiture. (cancellation fees apply)

Do you have a wetsuit that will fit me?

Yes! We have a huge range of quality O’Neill wetsuits in all shapes and sizes.

Can I use my own board in the lesson?

Yes absolutely !

Am I too old to surf?

The oldest person we have taught is 93! If you’re 94 we’d love to meet you!

Will I be able to stand up on my first lesson?

Everyone learns at a different pace but most people do stand up on their first lesson. 

How long does it take to learn to surf?

That really depends on how well you want to surf! We recommend at least three lessons to get the feeling of surfing. Check out our full range of products and see what’s right for you (the surfing journey never stops)

How many people are in a group?

Our instructor/student ratio is small. We have a maximum of five people in a group with an instructor. This small ratio allows you to learn quickly as you get plenty of attention from your instructor.

I can already surf. Is this retreat right for me?

This retreat is suited towards all level of surfers!
